To owners of Harley-Davidson® Touring machines, covering distance in the UK, mainland Europe and the rest of the world is part and parcel of ownership. It doesn’t matter what year your model is – from one of the early classics to the latest fantastic Project RUSHMORE models – we all love the experiences associated with riding. Camaraderie, meeting new friends, seeing new and memorable locations… it all comes with the miles and smiles gained from owning a Harley.
In recent months, a variety of media from men’s lifestyle magazines through to business specialist publications have ‘discovered more’ about what it is like to tour onboard a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. The riders experienced all the pleasures of riding and owning a Harley® touring bike while experiencing new destinations and the good times motorcycling brings. Through their respective outlets of print and online websites, the riding journalists spread the good word to thousands of their readers.
Recently, Jeremy Taylor of the Financial Times toured the Andalucia communities and regions of Southern Spain via one of the new tour routes on offer from Harley-Davidson® Authorized Tours. He and his friend chose a self-guided itinerary, which includes pre-booked hotels, maps and sightseeing locations while riding rented machines from the Harley-Davidson® Authorized Rentals dealer in Malaga. Jeremy summed up his trip: “Back in Málaga, after 600 miles of inspirational riding, it’s tough swapping two wheels for a taxi again.” Read the full report here: http://on.ft.com/1tr39nF
Also in the headlines recently was the announcement by global motorcycling website Visordown.com that it had awarded the new Harley-Davidson Electra Glide® Ultra Ltd the accolade of Best Tourer of 2014. The inaugural Visordown Awards judging panel was made up of Steve Farrell (Editor) and two freelance contributors from the world of motorcycle journalism, Martin Fitz-Gibbons (former Bike magazine reporter) and Roland Brown (world renowned road tester, racer and author of many motorcycling books).
From a shortlist of six bikes from five different manufacturers, the three-man judging panel agreed that the latest Ultra Ltd, featuring the much-discussed Project Rushmore details, was an excellent machine and worthy of the title ‘Best Tourer’. Roland Brown went as far to say: “The Ultra Limited handles well, it’s got good ground clearance, the brakes are good and the panniers open with one touch. Harley have come up with lots of useful innovations and made sure you can't even see them. It's a revolutionary bike really.” View the complete Visordown Awards 2014 here: http://bit.ly/1pitclB
