The Battle is back and badder than ever

The highly-anticipated Harley-Davidson custom competition; Battle of the Kings is back. This time the competition is a global affair and there are even more bikes in the mix with over 10,000 parts to build work.

Battle of the Kings is a Harley-Davidson custom competition featuring the very best Custom Kings from across the globe. The challenge is to take a standard Harley-Davidson model and turn it into something unique. Over 200 dealers from more than 30 countries will compete to create bespoke, ground-breaking Harleys, using only their imagination, skill and a budget no bigger than half the cost of the original model.

For this years 2019 Battle of the Kings competition our Guildford & Reading Harley-Davidson dealers have been working hard to create their best entries yet and the custom rides have now been revealed and voting is open. Check out our entries below and get voting!

Street Reaper | Road Glide Special | Guildford Harley-Davidson     

The performance bagger scene growing in the states is what caught our attention and the drive to build Street Reaper for BOTK 2019 – it isn’t every day you see a performance Touring model on UK roads. The Road Glide we chose now has genuine Harley-Davidson bodywork to enhance the bike’s looks. These include a wrap-around front fender, stretched side panels and front spoiler kit. This is all wrapped in a one-off custom paintjob by Surrey Customs.

Performance-wise, a Screamin’ Eagle Stage II torque cam along with a heavy breather and Bassani Road Rage II 2-1 exhaust are united with a Dynojet Target Tune in order to get maximum power from the motor in all conditions. ӦHLINS shocks ramp up the handling and to give the bike a more aggressive feel we have fitted 10-inch Kraus risers with FM Fly Moto style bars.

There are lots of detail parts we have gone to the trouble of getting painted that you have to look twice to see. – speaker grills, screen, vents, headlight surrounds, caliper inserts and pin striping on the rims. Read more and vote

“As far as chassis modifications go, we chopped the rear end of the frame and modified the front fork yokes – we have gone with a bottom mount headlamp and new chrome-laced wheels; 16-inch at the rear and 21in up front. The wheels are the key to the stance and style of this bike. We’ve added our own air filters as well. The exhaust is the original with subtle changes that include our own tips.

John Marco, from the dealership’s workshop, and I love the Japanese custom scene. What the Japanese can build from a stock Sportster is unreal and we are absolutely in to that style exercise. We’ve taken cues and partially recreated them into this year’s BOTK build. One thing I have to say, especially to Harley-Davidson customers and fans, is with the abundance of genuine Harley accessory parts, customising is not about having to make everything now.
