Our 2015 Harley-Davidson XL1200X Forty-Eight dubbed the “SX1200” based on the 1970’s AMF Harley-Davidson/Aermacchi era and using a 1974 Harley-Davidson SX175 that we have here at the shop as inspiration.
The Sportster range in general lends itself to huge customization possibilities, especially the Forty-Eight. Its low down, stripped back look is a perfect base for an “old school” feel bike. Being the great base that it is also adding modern accessories such as custom wheels works very well with the Forty-Eight. To be honest that’s the best thing about Sportsters, the possibilities are endless.
We wanted to build something fun, usable and a little nostalgic. Scramblers are rad and I personally love the Paint scheme on this bike. Simple, Effective. The Biltwell Speedway Seat and XR750 Style Rocker Covers give the bike a unique look to the past. Many small touches make to a massive change in style from the original bike.
Probably the most challenging part of the bike was those Rocker covers, Dave had to Ratchet Strap the Engine down in the frame to slide them into place (thanks for the idea to strap the motor Mick)
We are really stoked on the way it’s come out and hope the general public like it to!
